    Pros

    Cons

No career progression. Perception driven company. Too many high level management not knowing what the ground staff is going through.

    Advice to Management

Be more open and transparent when it comes to retrenchment. For those who intend to leave, please give them the option to do so.

    Pros

Work life balance. You can choose to stay and complete your work, own time own target.

    Cons

Typically looking to outsource work to engineers in a less expensive region. Typically looking to hire new experienced employees with not-so-relevant skillsets to be seniors in the company.

    Advice to Management

    Try to search from within.

    Pros

Work life balance is good, visibility to management is solid. Opportunities can be endless and quick moves are an option.

    Cons

Depending on manager life can get hectic. Occasionally employees can be held back by a manager who does not want them to move on.

    Advice to Management

Keep the values intact and focus on the work life balance. Integrity has always been integral and should be considered throughout the business.

I worked at FMC Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work life balance at FMC is very good, I was able to negotiate extra PTO and could use it at my own discretion. There are a great group of folks working there and all understand the hurdles you face working at FMC.

    Cons

Turnover is ridiculous, especially at the operational level at the field locations. As soon as you build re pore with someone, poof they are gone. FMC Can't seem to retain the strong, smart, and sociable employees. I think it is honestly due to the fact that upper management has done a pretty awful job of providing guidance on how to navigate in the industry today. Every couple of months there is a new... re-organization of the division and new managers, it provides a pretty unstable culture which creates fear within the employees to even want to stay.

    Advice to Management

Please stop promoting folks that come of as "team players,NICE, go getters" and start promoting individuals based off their work performance and reviews from managers that have worked with them through projects. There are way too many people that were cut that would've helped whether the storm going on in the industry. Instead, there are a ton of folks still employed at FMC that only made it by the way of brown... nosing.... therefore your ship is sinking.

I worked at FMC Technologies for more than 3 years

    Pros

7% matching 401k (3% vested after 3 years), 3 weeks vacation, Good work/life balance. Tons of project work in good times. Lots of opportunity to advance your career if you choose to do so (lots of sideways movement, only upward movement if you obtain an MBA). Layoff packages aren't so bad. Good management (they generally leave you alone if you're kicking butt...aka..providing on-time delivery so we look good in... the face of the customer and management gets their big bonuses).

    Cons

Lots of red tape. Good ol' boys club in management (don't get me wrong, most of them are good people, but you just have to be in their club to play at that level). Lower and middle management are tend to parrot orders from the top and are generally do not have the power to do anything but within the scope of their tiny circle of power.

    Advice to Management

You're doing the best you can given the times.
