Good place to start, but not to stay

Nov 11, 2017 - Anonymous Employee in Toronto, ON

      Pros

      - The majority of employees work great together - Juniors are encouraged to take part in client presentations - The company has a great system in place to track career goals - It's a great place to get experience before moving on

      Cons

      - Upper management is largely absent, and complaints or concerns fall on deaf ears - Favouritism has created an environment where a select few employees who do little work are safe from repercussions, but those who are overworked as a result get chastised for not asking for help

      Avoid this sinking ship

      Pros

Compensation package is quite competitive, most individuals are pleasant to work with

      Cons

      - Management unable to provide constructive feedback - Little to no focus on training or development - Employee turnover astoundingly high, constant restructuring of teams resulting in little to no consistency (average employment with this team seems to last 3-4 months) - Leadership out of touch with own team, unaware of almost everything happening with their employees and unwilling to listen to any issue they feel is below their seniority level - Occasionally instructed to engage in ethically questionable actions to profit the business at the expense of their clients - Consistently pressures employees to present unrealistic budgets and timelines to client teams only to criticize the same employee when said deadlines and budgets are missed

No work/life balance - Not worth the mental exhaustion

      Pros

Everyone was friendly and nice, great people to work with preCOVID time and cool office space. Gained alot of experience and can move up quickly if you prove yourself.

      Cons

      - No work/life balance at all. It was bad to begin with but got worse during the pandemic. Leadership was under the assumption during the beginning that everyone was at their computers due to the shutdown but that mentality did not change. I was working until 9-10pm every night and logging in at 9am every day. Some days the whole team would work till 4am in the morning and expected to log back in at 9am, weekends were also a norm. There was no overtime for this. There was no downtime, you were expected to always be online. I had no idea when I would finish every day, I wouldn't be able to make any plans even around 8pm because I might still be working. I would be mentally exhausted by the end of each day because of all the things needed to be done and would only have the energy to eat dinner and go to the bed. Each producer was juggling at least 10 projects. - There was unlimited PTO but was made to feel guilty everytime you took time off because you had to find coverage and everyone was so overwhelmed no one had time to cover. - The pay was laughable, they were hiring like crazy but paid current workers very low. When I gave my 2 weeks, they offered to double my salary and give a promotion but at that point I had enough and knew that meant they could have paid me much more from the beginning. - You have no social life because you don't know when you will finish work or if you have to work the weekend. By the time I left the company, everyone seemed miserable, the reason why I had stayed for so long was for the people and that was non-existent working remotely. - The account team did not know how to handle the Clients at all, we had no deadlines with the Client it was just as soon as possible as fast as possible. That meant the entire team was constantly burned out and creative would leave every few months due to the insane amount of workload
