I have been working at F5 Networks full-time

    Pros

F5 is not like other corporates. Although F5 is considered a 'big' company with 4500+ employees, the company treats their employees as if it was a startup of 20 people.
F5 is an industry leader and hardly ever lays off people. if you're looking for job security this is the place. processes are well defined and executed.
The work-life balance is overall very pleasing in F5.

    Cons

Not enough innovation and employees development plans / career opportunities. company needs to be more innovative to keep up with the industry otherwise it will be left behind.

    Pros

good tech, good story and loyal customers, compensation is good and accelerators are a bonus. training is pleantifull and available.

I have been working at F5 Networks full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

atmosphere is great; hires the best talent available anywhere in the world; team dynamics are great and important to the company; product is market leading and well recognized; customers are happy with the product; people who stay with the company are zealots... stay here 12 months and you're an advocate

    Cons

customer support hinders sales; sometimes working remote all the time can be challenging to learn new products or minor changes in focus; promotion within is challenging, likely the largest frustration for field staff; company is 24/7 and travel is required - although that's explained coming in, most people don't realize it... likely the biggest reason for someone leaving within a year

    Advice to Management

continue to team build for field staff; understand career growth paths for employees and foster that to keep the talent that has been searched for so diligently

I have been working at F5 Networks full-time

    Pros

    1. Compensation and benefits
    2. Market leader in ADC
    3. Smart people to work with
    4. Startup culture with small teams
    5. Lot of freedom on decision making

    Cons

    1. Growth has slowed down reflected by stock price since F5 is late on transitioning to cloud business and has not much market share in cloud based services.
    2. No Cafeteria serving good food though they have food truck visiting few days a week.
    3. Sometime work pressure could be demanding to meet the delivery deadlines.

    Advice to Management

Everything depends on how fast F5 can deliver and capture the cloud based market before the competitors and weather it continues to attract and hire great engineering talent and being best tech company to work for in silicon valley and seattle with better growth opportunities and work culture of inclusion, openness and diversity.

I worked at F5 Networks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Good benefits
    - Great people
    - Fun culture

    Cons

The biggest con is that F5 is a dinosaur in the technology world but is stuck in denial about that fact. The world is shifting to the cloud, and while they talk a good game about making that shift, recent product development priorities say otherwise. The most recent hardware platform release was supposed to start revenue growing again, but I'd be surprised if next week's earnings report shows that to be the case. The purpose built security appliances appear to be a disaster. They saw the cloud wave coming, talked a big game like they were pivoting, but addiction to hardware margins caused them to miss it.

The other con (closely related to the first) is that they care so much about what the Street thinks of them that every decision is a short term one to maximize the current quarter. No long term thinking or willingness to see short term pain for long term gain.

    Advice to Management

Wake up - the technology world is passing you by, and you're missing it. You talk a lot about your partner AWS and how amazing what they're doing is, yet you take none of the lessons from that success. Focus on the long term over the short term. Start product development from the customer and work backwards, not the other way around. Change is going to be painful, but as the alternative is death it's time to start putting your development efforts toward where your marketing says you are going.
