    Great training grounds

    Pros

Good pay if working 40-50 hours (typical hours are 60-65), strong co-workers, challenging projects, never bored. Project teams do become a sort of family due to the amount of time spent and sense of accomplishment at the end of a project. Corporate support was always very good. Great place to gain unique experiences.

    Cons

Non-existent work life balance - 4 weeks on project in remote locations, with 4-5 days off for several months to years at a time. No overtime or additional compensation for salaried employees and low per diem forces you to stay in low rent motels. Upper management creates a high-pressure environment that instills a "live to work" mentality among the project management teams and ultimately a high turnover rate for young workers with families.

    Good Company/Never at Home

Jun 3, 2016 - Manager in Missoula, MT

    Pros

Good company to work for. They treat salaried people well and the pay is above average because they feel they need to pay you well as an incentive to never see your family. Great 401k!

    Cons

They treat the hourly folks like dirt which leads to a high turnover of craft employees and does not promote any type of company loyalty. Salaried and craft alike both have the same issue of the impossible life/work balance. Good place for single folks with no kids of home attachments. Terrible health insurance.

    Good Learning Experience

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Good exposure to everything in the environmental construction world and really supportive upper management. Team work and peer to peer delegation is better than most companies.

    Cons

Work intensity is high, the amount of work expected to be done is equivalent to a 24-hour 7-day week all-you-can-work buffet, teams are sometimes inexperienced and the effort to get to a finished product is really messy.
