Pros
For many operational areas in logistics, they simply don't care about education. Have a bachelors and you'll go far -- doesn't matter what it's in or where it's from. Meet their minimum qualifications and then be prepared to roll up your sleeves, and that's really all it takes. They are, without any doubt or reservation in my mind, the best at what they do. They are also, without a doubt, institutionally incapable of considering the question of whether or not they should be doing it. They will teach you to lead and will invest in your development. You will be watched by the people you work with, as well as your supervisors, for signs that you think for yourself. More than that, their managers feel incapable of making a difference, so they take the money and keep quiet. They are consistent, non-discriminatory (they really don't care about anybody), and of course, absolutely immense. Be willing to relocate and you can have a number of career directions all working for the same company.
Cons
I worked there 8 years in 4 different managerial roles. Conservative and, in my opinion, rather simplistically-minded people do best with Walmart. West Point grads and ex-military excel at Walmart for a reason. If you believe that the most practical response to attacks on our country are to attack back with greater efficacy, you'll love Walmart. If your views tend to be multi-layered or your perspective tends towards liberalism, you're going to be a dissenting voice. If, when you hear someone talk about working conditions in Bangladesh, you're first thought is that you're glad you're American, you'll fit right in. But if your first thought is, "what can I do to help?", or "how could we make this better?", my advice is to keep shopping. While you'll be tolerated, you won't have a lot of work friends.
