It's a good-hearted, smart bunch of people in an underfunded enterprise that has struggled to keep up with the times. - Anonymous employee WNET Employee Review

Pros

Smart people with good intentions who are there because they love public broadcasting and are proud of the excellent work they do with limited resources.

Cons

Limited resources, bureaucratic culture filled with many PBS lifers and lack of connectedness to the outside world can keep things very traditional and stymied.

Pros

Everyone loves the mission of the company and genuinely likes the work they do

Cons

The office is empty most days, if you're looking to interact in person.

Pros

You will meet some talented people doing all of the grunt work. Decent benefits (although they’ve gotten worse and worse every passing year)

Cons

Management is asleep at the wheel and is often rewarded with raises and promotions for keeping the lights on. Meanwhile, low level employees wages are stagnant (raises were frozen during Covid but never came back for us). They would rather hire “consultants” for 100k+ a year so that they can tell them how to manage the company. If you are a young person looking to get a foot in at a media company, this is not the place for you. You will be disregarded and probably stay in an entry level position for years and years, it will not be a net benefit to your career.
