Pros

Wonderful staff. Great mission and business model.

Cons

SOME of the key players in management / upper management are very unprofessional and immature. The use of vulgar language runs rampant in this organization. Employees tend to be treated disrespectfully by certain members of the management team. They can get away with this because a majority of the staff are young and are early in their career, and don't have anything to use as a comparison. The mantra in this company is "fear of being fired", causing paranoia by many of the employees. This can / is a very stressful place to work. There are some really nice people who genuinely care about the welfare of animals, but don't let that fool you. Money is the real motivator behind this business, and animal health tends to take the back seat by those who call the shots.

Pros

Very organized, professional staff. Young environment, you can have tattoos and dyed hair. You travel a good amount, a lot of down time. The company ran very smoothly. I was pretty impressed with my coworkers' abilities to deal with huge crowds, crazy animals, technical difficulties, etc, and still maintain excellent customer service. In general, I thought the job was alright. I learned a lot and worked with fun people. Rarely will you hear this, but the managers and supervisors were actually very nice and approachable.I left because I found a job in the field I studied. I would return to them as a customer.

Cons

You basically work EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND, and often have to stay overnight in a hotel, sharing a room with a coworker. My biggest issue is this, they said they pay $11/hr, but then I come to find out that is only when you're in "clinic time" which amounts to roughly 5 hours of $11/hr per shift. When you are in "drive time," which is the time you spend in a big van being driven by a 20-year-old (also any time you are parked waiting for the clinic to start), you only get $8/hr. ALSO, you don't get paid for the time you spend in a hotel overnight, (sometimes two nights) in a different state with nothing to do. Doctors could also be unprofessional or mean and hard to work with, but for the most part though, they were okay.
