Pros

The pay is good, you get a lot of PTO days and the company is good about letting you use them. There is room for advancement if you work hard. Most of the people you work with are competent and easy to get along with. They are really big on community involvement and will provide money to charities in your name if you volunteer enough hours with them.

Cons

There is a huge disconnect between senior management and the majority of employees. They have unrealistic goals and don't provide enough resources to meet them. Medical benefits are pretty lousy for being the largest insurance company in the US

I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Good pay
    -Nice, talented people
    -Opportunity for telecommuting

    Cons

    -TERRIBLE benefits
-Company uses people and then throws them away

People are ashamed to tell people they work for UnitedHealth Group. Their health benefits alone are terrible. Management does not care about customers or it's employees, just about the bottom line. Layoffs occur every quarter rain or shine, and great people get discarded while the deadwood stays.

    Advice to Management

Care more about making a positive difference in people's lives and less about Executive bonuses and cost cutting.

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time

    Pros

Company has experienced growth year after year.
    Great vacation plans.
Flexibility to work remotely from home in many positions.
    Options for many different shifts.
Overtime often available if you want to make extra money.

    Cons

Acquired by United Health Group and has experienced changes.
Evenings and weekends required in some positions.
2 Holidays a year requirement in most positions.
Bonus payouts are less than they used to be (but still more than you might expect at any other company).

    Advice to Management

Recognize current staff for their hard work.
Communicate bonus payouts clearly to employees.
