Pros

The organization has basic benefits and has had double-digit growth for many years. The teams at NPD love to collaborate and have meetings and meetings about meetings. If you are into telling everyone how awesome of a job you do this may be a place for you.

Cons

I have been most disappointed in the culture of NPD. The relationships are surface pretending to care so they can grab some piece of information to take to the top. Working in the Port Washington office feels like a dying library. The CEO is more concerned about her poorly written book and getting employees to write positive reviews on Amazon than building an enduring company. Mom B.A is even an option to check in SalesForce for her to send clients her book. The CEO is disconnected from the modern needs of companies and acts like their needs should revolve around NPD. This company hires the same personality and skillset incestuously from its "partners" Neilsen and IRI ensuring that no new ideas are brought to the top. NPD is very executive heavy with more VP's, SVP, & EVP's than jr. employees. Promotion is based upon years of dedication and your personal relationship with the Sr. Executives rather than your merit, leadership, education, past experience and how smart you work. This company lacks modern ideals and only is in existence due to the lack of past competitors. As other data companies are closing in, NPD is closing their eyes to their strengths relying on their relationships of the past rather than the technology of the future. It seems like this company is just waiting for the owner to move on...so the Sr. leaders can cash out.

The NPD Group Response
6y
We always appreciate feedback as well as the opportunity to fill in the gaps with additional information. NPD has indeed achieved double-digit growth for many years, and we are committed to extending that track record of success for the benefit of the business and for our employees who gain new opportunities as the company grows. To do this, we are focused on continuing to deliver our core services to more than 2000 clients worldwide while also introducing new products and services for the future. Earlier this year, we hired a new Chief Technology Officer (from outside the industry), and several other key positions to drive innovation and develop our next generation technology platform. We are also using new data sets, complementing our flagship trackers, and delivering enhanced data to capture emerging channels of distribution. It’s an exciting time to be in our industry and to be at NPD!
