Pros

Successfully tapping into a niche market of agriculture and rural lifestyle consumers and businesses nationwide, this company continues to grow and has lots of opportunities for potential professionals seeking to diversify their employment portfolio within the broadcast media industry. For seasoned media professionals, hours are much more traditional with most positions working a traditional 8-5 schedule and sometimes evenings; rarely weekends and holidays.

Cons

This company employs a significant amount of individuals working in broadcast media positions who don't come from a traditional broadcast media, production or news background or possess inadequate experience. Because of the nature of this company and its growth, this firm has attracted experienced talent but has a reputation of not retaining them. The daily workflow within a mixture of media veterans and entry-level types presents challenges. There is frequent and inconsistent micromanagement from the very top interfering with directives carried out in management practices at the local level. Some employees and management have abused paid time off and sick days with no checks and balances in place also consistent with favoritism in the workplace. The biggest weakness within this non-traditional, family-owned company is that most management, including the top, does not possess media experience compared to their peers in other networks to carry the company and its employees forward to become consistently competitive with mainstream national networks.

Pros

The entire staff at RFD TV was professional, honest, and hard working. I've never worked at a place where there was so little drama. As employees, we always knew exactly where we stood, and anytime we needed improvement, it was offered in constructive advice. Given the chance, I would return to my position there in a heartbeat without reservation.

Cons

From time to time, there were last minute changes or decisions that had to be worked around. Only one particular employee was difficult to work with because of a premadonna attitude, but that person was hardly ever there.

Pros

Literally none. Run. Do not work here.

Cons

Conmen, all of them. A complete farce. Gross incompetence bottom to top. An embarrassment.
