Pros

Exposure to quality wines and insight into the English wine industry. First-class winemaking team. Beautiful vineyard setting. Supportive colleagues at non-executive levels.

Cons

Executive board, including the CEO, is out of touch with the realities of running the business. Poor examples set by some directors, contributing to a toxic culture. Threatening behaviuor from senior leadership created a hostile environment. People team is unfriendly and unapproachable, making it hard to raise concerns. Annual bonuses withheld due to financial instability. Little recognition for hard work; staff often feel undervalued and overlooked. People team are very unapproachable and defensive to any issues raised.

Pros

This year has been tough, but the business is still here—and that’s thanks to the hard work, energy, and care shown by so many across Ridgeview. There’s still passion, friendliness, and a strong sense of team. It’s disappointing to see a recent review that didn’t reflect that. It felt out of step with the general positivity people have towards those it criticised, and the culture they’ve helped build. We all have blind spots, and self-awareness matters. If someone feels the environment is toxic, it’s worth asking: have they brought the positivity and behaviours they expect from others—or have they, perhaps unknowingly, contributed to the negativity they describe? Work isn’t a personal battle. It’s about coming together to achieve shared goals, building respectful relationships, and supporting one another. While everyone experiences the workplace differently, we all share the same environment. And even if others don’t feel what one person does, empathy and reflection are key. If your standards are high, are you living by them? Are you showing the behaviours you expect from others? Because if not—are you not part of the problem?

Cons

A challenging time for businesses.

Pros

Ethical, fair and transparent leadership and what's not to love about working in a vineyard! They seem to really care about their employees and always do what they can to facilitate a good work life balance. Also BCorp accredited.

Cons

Not easy to get there on public transport. Train station is about 20 minutes walk away (Burgess Hill) but that has great links to London and Brighton.
