Pros

Looks good on a resume, you work with other positive, motivated people, can be a good opportunity for a certain person

Cons

Overall the company is somewhat disingenuous toward clients and employees. Their business model is is low price consulting (grunt) work for local start ups which they provide by using unpaid interns and a few paid managers. So clients are paying money for busy, unpaid college students to "consult" their business. This was my biggest problem. They use a lot of buzz words and fluff but create little of value for clients or interns. There may be a need for niche consulting like this, but they need to be upfront with all parties on how the business functions and what interns can expect out of it. They advertise interns' opportunities to "interface with C-level executives" but you need to realize that this means working with the CEO of a struggling start-up being run from home or an old warehouse. Again, there is nothing wrong with this type of niche consulting, but I don't feel they're upfront about this in the first place. And their paid positions they offer are quite low.

Pros

I understand that this internship is not for everyone, but I personally really appreciated the opportunity as a young student to be able to have the opportunity to do work that would actually be used. I also appreciated the emphasis on personal growth and the availability of help when I needed it, but allowing me to learn much simply by nature of the experience. Also great people to work with, most everyone is very bright, motivated and positive which makes for a great work environment. Also for me it was really nice that you only have 2 one hour meetings a week in the office and the rest of the time I could work anywhere this made it easier to manage my time.

Cons

This is a startup company and naturally there is room for refinement. If you are looking for a perfected and refined experience look elsewhere, in some respects everyone is learning together(in some respects I feel this is the greatest benefit of this internship, learning to work innovatively, refining and developing processes).

Pros

I would really have to stretch to find some pros for working at RPM. I worked on 4 different projects and out of those 4 I really only enjoyed 1 of them. It was pretty interesting and we did some work that actually helped progress the company...the other 3 projects...not so much.

Cons

I worked really hard for about 4.5 months for free cause they wont pay for the internship and was looking forward to being hired on so I could do some "real" work and get paid...but after all of that they made me an offer to work 60 hrs/week on 3 projects and were gonna pay me about $450 for the month. They mapped it out for me and if I would have stayed on I would have made about 24,000 in the first year, BUT ONLY AFTER WORKING 60hr weeks. So I had to decline.
