Pros

The money is ok if this is your FIRST sales job. Working with some of the designers can be pleasant.

Cons

You will not make the industry standard salary of an Account Manager. Management is a joke and sometimes the people they hire know NOTHING about the product we sell. Be prepared to be chewed out on a daily basis by clientele who just want to know where their product is, but due to a HUGE lack of communication from vendors, you will never be able to give them an accurate answer. Account Manager are forced to abide by the strict no return policy but management is spineless and will crumble quickly making the Account Managers look stupid. You make a pittance of a salary but management isn't afraid to ask you to do work after hours, before hours or on your days off. Also you will have to work at least one Saturday a month (on top of your regular 40-45 hour work week), but there were times I would work every other Saturday (you aren't paid anything extra for these days). Lack of communication all around, employees are stretched far too thin. Clientele is made up mostly of bullies who throw temper tantrums and usually do most of their shopping at Home Depot, but will expect you to move Earth for them. Kitchen Designer is stretched faaaaar too thin and account managers will usually feel left in the dark when a member is asking questions about their kitchen project and the designer is unavailable.

Pros

No weekends and free snacks

Cons

Probably the most unprofessional place I have ever worked. There is no HR - meaning, anything is said or done with no recourse. Management talks behind everyone’s back, including other coworkers, the owners of that location and their own clients. Pay sucked because it was spent on other things instead of being invested back into their employees. It’s giving high school with all the gossip and cliques except it’s worse because it’s adults and they are the ones in charge of your livelihood.
