Pros

Program staff is very passionate about the work and is committed to Promises2Kids' mission. Programming really does touch people's lives.

Cons

Development and Mgmt staff love to gossip about employees and spread rumors. Employees are openly disrespected by CEO and supervisors. Work schedule is not flexible and working overtime is expected without additional pay. Supervisors do not take ownership of their mistakes instead they place the blame on other employees. The office climate is toxic as everyone has something unpleasant to say about someone else. The CEO is unkind and disconnected to both her employees and the people she's supposed to be serving. She has little contact with foster youth and uses dated examples and stories to appeal to donors. Both the CEO and supervisors refuse to take ownership for their mistakes. Several employees were having sexual relationships with one another that was causing tension at the workplace.

Pros

I worked at Promises for over 2 years and was always impressed by their ability to serve the youth and pivot as needed to meet their needs. The organization is fast paced which may not be a fit for everyone, but the mission is at their core. It is definitely a place where you can grow and learn because you are involved in many areas of the non profit. The CEO is always willing to get involved to support directly with youth activities or philanthropic effort. She definitely has a vision for growth, but always with children at heart.

Cons

Some people might not like the fast paced nature or the need to work during off hours at donor and youth events.

Pros

Some of the programs offered by Promises2Kids to foster youth are empowering and highly needed.

Cons

The CEO is a dishonest, does not treat people fairly, sets ridiculous goals that no one can meet, gossips about employees to others outside of the organization, and does a fine job at pulling the wool over the eyes of donors and the board. Do not work here if you have any sense of decency because you will be asked to be dishonest, to do work you will either not be paid for or that is not in your job description, and will be repremanded by the CEO for things you did not do yet all the while, never receive any sort of praise.
