Pros

Well...if I had to say anything I guess it would be the fact that some guys with checkered backgrounds are given an opportunity.

Cons

The biggest con is that there is a good Ole boy system in place. You can be under qualified, & have a shady past but if you're liked by the owner you can do no wrong. Recently I was terminated from my position due to my criminal record coming out. I have been a faithful employee who does his job and doesn't complain for over three years and was cut loose like it was nothing. I admit, I have a horrible past that involves a sex crime. However there is a manager in California, with the exact type of criminal charges that was not terminated. How is that fair? The only reason it became an issue is because a customer called from a church I was doing a job at and complained after running a check on my drivers license. Still no benefit of the doubt, just cut me dry on the spot. Yet this other guy still has a job, and is a manager. Just doesn't seem right.

Pros

Made some good friends there

Cons

There’s multiple: 1. The owners are awful both in personality and in management of money - accused baristas and roasters workers of theft multiple times 2. Shift in management was an absolute sh*t-show (for a lack of better word) 3. Any time something broke that was a necessity in running a coffee bar, the owners did everything BUT fix it - the fridges for the milk broke multiple times before being replaced and it took them two weeks to fix the sanitizer, and after it was fixed it still broke constantly from bad installment. Owners still encouraged the use of dine-in ware despite this 4. They were heavily anti-mask (and still are?) 5. The bar wasn’t even built properly, so baristas were MANUALLY carriage out discard water from the machines so the owners didn’t have to properly install it 6. As a barista, there is no way to move up in the company and owners constantly threatened to fire employees when raises were brought up (literally a federal offense but whatever) 7. There are multiple things that can be done as a barista, like learning to roast coffee, making syrups, giving tours, and running the online shop, but these additional jobs don't come with any additional pay 8. Speaking of the online, the website is spotty at best, and the people that worked on it were impossible to talk to. Orders were constantly lost and it was always blamed on the people working on the shop 9. “If you can lean you can clean” culture is PREVALENT and it was so horrible, especially as a closer
