Very little communication from upper management
Managers who work hard are passed up for managers who are lazy but “talk well”.
Worked in Heartland region which is doing terribly compared to rest of the company. Upper management wonders why but they continue to hire and promote people who can smooth talk but overlook the people who are actually working hard and who actually care about their stores. I have witnessed employees be required to lose weight in order to be considered for management because they value a healthy lifestyle which I don’t understand what someone’s weight has to do with their ability to lead and manage. Upper management is always talking about the need to work as a team and communicate but ignore you when you reach out to them. If you have a family they could careless if you never see them. Have been told that my kids being sick was no sufficient reason for me to miss a meeting that was scheduled a day before. Last minute meetings all the time and then they get frustrated if you cannot make it, as if we should just sit around and make no plans and wait for them to call when they need us.
