Pros

- Brilliant, dedicated people, with a strong sense of shared mission - Intellectually challenging environment; tough problems, lots of variety, opportunities for creativity - Treated like an adult -- lots of freedom to propose and pursue my own goals - Incredible support for our growth and development (in-house management/leadership coach available to all, c++ and python training, healthy budget for conferences and classes) - Generous compensation for everyone, share in fund performance, amazing upside for top performers - Strong sense of cultural affiliation and very low attrition -- most people who join PDT stay here for the long run - Most promotions are from within. Lots of opportunities for junior people to grow and take on more responsibilities - Highly ethical place and people - Kind, casual, and friendly environment; partners and senior executives are approachable - Agile, small company feel; little bureaucracy and red tape - Collaborative and cooperative, not at all a competitive "kill what you eat" culture - Very good internal transparency about how the fund works and performs - Management takes problems and complaints seriously - Partners are long-time, dedicated, smart, and compassionate, and take great personal care to run the company as well as possible

Cons

- Managers should get better at letting people know when they're not succeeding and managing out poor performers (this seems to be happening) - There could be more communication and feedback about strategy at the team and department level to let people know what plans are and explain priorities, tradeoffs, why, etc.
