- Lots of opportunity to grow and put ideas into practice.

- can be a little risk adverse at times.

- create conditions that encourage more disruptive ways of working to support innovation.

    I worked at O2 full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good employee perks, if you like mobile tech
    Good networking opportunities for employees

    Cons

    Lack of support from regional manager
    Salaries are pathetic compared to the rest of the telecoms retail sector
    Lots of pressure on sales, without appropriate supporting resources (i.e. staff)
    They treat their customers like rubbish, even though they like to make out they're the best (of a bad bunch...)
    Such a tight squeeze on budgets left them to put more pressure on store staff, without any support
    One of their straplines for employees is 'do more with less'.. aka "we will slash your budgets while expecting an ever increasing output"
    Really horrific 'boys club' culture which runs throughout the entire business, but is especially prominent at store Leader/regional leader level (and they wonder why they can't hit their diversity quota...)
    If you're friends with your boss, you'll probably get a promotion. If you work hard, you probably won't.
    There is an unbelievable amount of pretence throughout the company.
    You will hear the phrase 'devils advocate' 10 times a day, and it will drive you mad.
    No work life balance. You are in constant contact and can't switch off.

    Advice to Management

    Start to actually care about your staff. Stop PRETENDING that you actually care.
    Stop being so process driven, and functional, and start treating people like people.
