Small GC issues - Not Important Enough Michilli Employee Review

I've been with Michilli for a while now and have seen the company evolve a lot over the past year. Leadership has clearly made an effort to listen to employee feedback. There were some challenges in the past, and some of the older reviews probably reflect that time. Also, like most review sites, people who are unhappy tend to be the ones posting. What I’ve personally experienced more recently is a leadership team that genuinely cares about the people here. One thing that says a lot to me is that four former employees have come back to the company in the last six months. The average tenure here is around five years, which is pretty solid in the construction industry where turnover is usually high. Work life balance is respected. People have lives outside of work, families, hobbies, and that is understood. Office employees also get one remote day per week which is actually pretty rare for a general contractor. The work environment is positive overall. When someone does good work it gets recognized. The company also puts effort into organizing employee events so people can connect outside of just project work. Angelo is genuinely one of the nicest people you will meet. He is very involved in the business but also approachable and accessible to employees. He knows the clients well and always encourages the team to deliver the level of work he knows we are capable of.

The work environment is fast paced, which can be challenging for people who are new to working for a luxury GC. Balancing projects and training or professional development can be difficult when projects are in full swing.

Opportunities working in luxury commercial projects

You could gain millions in extra contract work, but Angelo will still let you go, if he has nowhere to put you. This is because Angelo tries to take on too much work for himself to complete and refuses to higher help to obtain more work. This causes even upper management to admit that they are unsure how long they will be employed. Due to this I feel there is a severe lack of loyalty from the employer to employees.
