I worked at Mercuria Energy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are some good people there and relatively fun atmosphere.

    Cons

No opportunity to advance. Poor management that take no responsibility for problems. Pay that never increases despite having stellar peer and manager reviews. Very poor ethics of traders.

    Advice to Management

Hire traders that have a conscience. Promote from within and give US employees a chance instead of hiring people from other countries. Reward people for working hard. Using an excuse of "just be glad you didn't get a pay decrease" is not an incentive to stay.

I have been working at Mercuria Energy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great benefits, pretty fair pay, good bonuses, people in are top of their game and very talented. Depending on group, schedules can be very balanced and fair.

    Cons

All marching orders come from Geneva and London and are mostly not user/business focused. Lack of higher up IT direction results in waste and unnecessary costs. Projects are pretty interesting but not valuable or helpful to the end user.

    Advice to Management

IT management: figure out what you want to be and be it. To business management & owners: trust your people and help them help you.
