Pros
Relatively lots of opportunities to learn for college grads. Very stable for people looking for places to retire at or just turn the crank for years.
Cons
Stagnant technical opportunities for mid-levels: once you do something, you do it until you die, change jobs or retire. Despite of what management will tell you, there is NO way to change assignments once you get settled in. Also, salaries are super-stagnant: in 7 years of working I have never seen someone who is not straight out of college get hired. They simply can't afford professionals.
