Pros

Absolutely none. I would not recommend working in the HR department.

Cons

Extremely poor management Bullying culture Poor communication Micro-management Really poor HR knowledge within HR leadership team Poor decision making e.g. decisions in HR are often made based on personal opinion and Company politics rather than whats best. Style of management is to 'kick', not to lead HR staff often told 'if you are going to act like children, then we will treat you like children' Oppressive environment No development opportunities (sneered at) Certain senior HR people plagiarise other peoples work to ensure self preservation (and to secure their bonus). Performance management is non-existant. Staff are constantly marked down in yearly review and NEVER rewarded. Policies and procedures are not adhered to internally. Toxic environment and culture HR sick leave is really high. HR staff turnover is high. People are scared to 'speak up' and when they do, they are bullied out. Others resign. Aggressive and passive aggressive behaviour towards staff

Pros

KBC takes good care of its employees. The benefits and compensation packages are generous overall. A lot of experienced people to learn from. Great retention rate. A lot of people have lasted over 20 years, or started their careers and retired at KBC.

Cons

Vertical career moves are limited, especially at the international branches. Lateral moves and addition cross-functional responsibilities are more frequent, however. This is quite possibly due to career longevity and retention rate. If you are in an urgent pickle at an international branch and need immediate assistance from someone in Belgium past 5PM over there, best of lucks. Figuring out who's on call is often akin to searching a needle through a haystack. Mostly data-driven decision making is centralized in Belgium. With geographical distance, that can create an occasional disconnect with local contexts and considerations at international branches that don't necessarily make it into the data stack.
