Pros
Face paced environment where employees have decent benefits, flexible work options, guilt-free vacation time, and it is constantly evolving. Some employees are positive and upbeat, and depending on your manager, your manager can rock on in a good way :)
Cons
Unstructured hiring wages leave many employees disgruntled - we are paid $10-$30,000 less than the industry standard, yet are in the top 3 insurance companies. How is this possible? Some employees are always grumpy, and can bring your whole area down - it's hard to stay upbeat and positive, but I feel this is the way with many organizations. My previous employer had upbeat and positive staff, so moving over to Intact (ING at the time) was a culture shock (aka negative energy). There is little room to evolve into different positions in the Ottawa location - that all happens in the Toronto office.
