Pros
Working with people/community No one day is the same and the helping people can be rewarding Employees are very friendly and welcoming They may occasionally let employees leave a few hours early on the day before a holiday (christmas/thanksgiving)
Cons
Turnover rate is incredibly HIGH (average of 1 to 2 years) Compensation is not good at all (considering all the responsibility, hours worked, and expectations of work) unprofessionalism from executive leaders and management (constant use of profanity and gossip) Executive leaders like to put pressure and use fear to control people Weak infrastructure and small human resources department Favoritism Management is very close minded and they love to MICROMANAGE employees Workload is huge (you do the work of two people, therefore burnout comes fairly quickly) 60hrs work weeks and they don't compensate your time or flex your time very limited office space and not conducive working enviroment Offer very little training to employees and have very, very high expectations of performance No room for growth or advancement (small non-profit)
