Pros

Incredible mission and sense of accomplishment. Opportunities to feel good and grow every day. Each day is different. Good people on the front lines.

Cons

Major financial difficulties beget an environment where performance against metrics outweighs strong mission-based outcomes. Has led to a culture rich in poor leadership, ego and fear. Turnover is high and senior leaders are perceived as disconnected and transparently uncaring. Not terribly sustainable in its present condition.

Pros

The UNGA is a busy time at the UN, this provides a lot of excellent experience. The team works well and tries its best to ensure it is a beneficial one. Unlike many internships related to the UN, it is paid a stipend, which makes a difference

Cons

The stipend is not quite enough to live on, but it is fair for 3 days a week.

Pros

Friendly and inspiring environment. You really feel at the center of humanitarian work and that you can contribute to concrete impacts for vulnerable people.

Cons

Management does not always coach employees in new roles and too much turnover. Difficulties in balancing work and family life when you're hired on a contract basis.
