I have been working at Digital Extremes full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Company takes great care of it's employees.
Working on a game as a service means crunch is very rare.
We make products that we can be proud of, with no business interference on the creative process.

Cons

Work methods are pretty chaotic, if you can get into that rhythm it can be great. But if you need a more structured and well supervised environment to work, it will be a real struggle.

I worked at Digital Extremes full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Free lunch and snack bar
    Guaranteed end of year bonus
No crunch since it's solely a Games as a service studio

    Cons

HR won't handle issues properly, will promise to solve problem but will mostly do nothing about it. Uppermanagement is non existant and would rather keep staff under the radar about earnings. No clear roadmap of development to unify studio goals across departments, most things are found out during announcements to the public rather than internally. Game engine is horribly outdated. Similarly any senior staff experience is out of touch especially compared to the rest of the industry. Office culture is very much like high school cliques with a ton of unnecessary gossip.

    Advice to Management

If there are multiple reports of incompetence or HR violations against certain individuals. Maybe actually follow up and do something about it rather than make up excuses. Worse pretending it never happened.

I have been working at Digital Extremes full-time

    Pros

Flexible work hours, served lunches, casual dress, nice coworkers, corporate activities, good benefits package and perks, very accommodating when health issues/family emergencies arise.

    Cons

Communication (especially from upper mgmt) lacking at times, senior developers can be difficult to speak to.

    Advice to Management

Improve communication, senior developers should have more patience and respect for new hires/junior employees.
