Pros

My experience at Domotz has been mixed, just like many others have described in their reviews. Some opinions on Glassdoor may sound overly enthusiastic, while others feel unnecessarily harsh. As often happens, the truth is somewhere in the middle. Domotz is a product-driven company with a strong web application that many users genuinely appreciate. This creates some frustration internally, because despite having a solid and well-loved product, the company hasn’t always achieved the results it deserves. In the search for growth, external managers were brought in, but some of them didn’t embrace the philosophy that originally made the company successful: prioritizing product quality and maintaining a healthy, constructive work environment. This shift didn’t help, but things have changed. The CEO has changed, and the people who truly care about the company (some with more than 10 years of experience there) are now back at the center of the rebuilding effort. Although I personally decided to move on, I still recommend Domotz as a workplace. You’ll find highly skilled professionals who are kind, respectful, and passionate about what they do. The company has also an international team, an HR manager who communicates honestly and supports you in the right direction, and above all, a genuine widespread love for the product being developed.

Cons

Rebuilding takes time and energy, it can be challenging, but ultimately rewarding

Easy to work with and great group to be with.

Struggle to grow in ways that make sense for the company. Tend to have bigger dreams than what the engineering team can live up to

Pros

One of the few bright spots is that the company tends to hire highly qualified specialists and well-trained professionals. They are able to maintain a certain level of technical competence and dedication among the staff. Additionally, the benefits package is decent, providing some level of support and perks that are standard in the industry.

Cons

Unfortunately, the internal culture and management practices are abysmal, and it reflects in the work product. Teams operate in silos, often unaware of product updates or strategic changes that directly affect their work. This disconnection hampers collaboration and creates a chaotic work environment. The company feels more like a playground for one individual's vision rather than a cohesive organization. The current CEO appears to lack the backbone to implement meaningful changes or steer the company toward stability and growth. Staff respect and morale are severely lacking. The work environment is often tense, with frequent meetings that devolve into senior management yelling at staff, further diminishing morale and engagement. Security and privacy measures are handled recklessly, raising concerns about the company's commitment to protecting user data and maintaining compliance. Such negligence not only jeopardizes user trust but also exposes the company to potential legal and financial risks. Despite hiring specialists with high expertise, there is a troubling pattern of rapidly firing employees who provide honest feedback or challenge the status quo. This creates a culture of fear and discourages constructive criticism, ultimately stifling innovation and improvement.
