I have been working at Costa Coffee full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Good discount - 50% on shift and 25% throughout Whitbread brands ie. Great savings on nights at Premier Inn. Feel Good points system. Free coffee on shift. Easy to progress in store (that's if you get a long with management) Team is like a family and friendships are easy to make. Very laid back working environment (again dependent on management)

Cons

Put under immense stress and pressure when busy, usually understaffed to cut labour (save money)
Company is very profit orientated and that is their priority over staff. Long shifts with only half hour break. Required to do more than just the role of a 'barista'.

Advice to Management

I get a long well with my current manager - albeit she is very relaxed and laid back, which unfortunately creates an undisciplined working environment. My previous manager (who I am glad to see the back of) was very two-faced, and a horrible trait as a manager, she favouritised certain staff within the team - which made you feel unmotivated

I have been working at Costa Coffee part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

£7.40, very good wage for the work required
    Work with great people
Half the time busy, half the time empty so a lot of the time getting paid to do nothing 👍
Free drinks, good Costa rewards from working there

    Cons

    Weekend shifts
    Bad hours (lack of them)
Not nice management, little patience with you and expect the whole world given to them

    Advice to Management

    Crack a smile

I worked at Costa Coffee part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The shifts were flexible and it was relatively easy to pick up all necessary skills. I'm sure if you wanted to there was also opportunity to progress.

    Cons

True of any jobs like this, there seemed to be a 'plug-hole' effect where people were sucked in to do increasingly more shifts. Also a high turnover so not really a strong gel to the team. Work tedious.

    Advice to Management

Treat people like people not numbers
