Pros

It’s fairly low stress, just requires responsiveness and social agility; sensing the mood of the client and distracting them from their daily worries. I appreciate the flexibility in scheduling as I have occasional family demands of my own. Luckily my own Mother is in good health and she has my siblings nearby. I have new respect for the essential workers who have more responsibilities than I do but are probably making less because of « educational » status. It is a bleak reality for anyone with multiple degrees in the arts that you are considered lucky to get anything close to $20/hour, hardly a living wage, but even more depressing to consider even lower wages for the health aids who do the grunt work.

Cons

I was a little shocked to discover the disparity between what I earn and what the company charges the client for a companion. I know they do careful matching of companions to clients and that entails an upfront recruiting cost but after a few months of loyalty to a client it seems like they might be printing money.

Pros

Worked with your availability for shifts. Great pay.

Cons

The main person in charge of scheduling and getting you connected with new client sometime felt disorganized and things would come up at the last minute.
