Pros

Office is/was in a great location.

Cons

• Upper management have created a terrible working environment. Departments are silohed, and any communication between them is generally hostile. • Company is top heavy with a lot of "upper management", and no clear boundaries of responsibility. Problems often occur and nobody takes responsibility to fix them. Everybody plays the blame game. • Development team is comprised entirely of amatuers. This causes tons of issues: - The main product is unstable, riddled with security flaws, and cant handle even moderate internet traffic. The site crashes constantly. - Development requests take upwards of 6 months to a year to complete if they even get done at all. - Any requests for access to the database are met with hostility. • Marketing team is comprised almost entirely of interns and recent graduates, who are led by a director who demonstrates a complete lack of understanding in digital marketing. He strongly vetos any attempt to bring proper analytics into the equation, and relies on inconsistent and irrelevant data streams to report on performance. • I was provided with a company laptop - Windows Vista, 2gb ram, and a 120gb hd filled to the brim with viruses in 2015. • The US office is in one of SF's oldest and crappiest buildings. The office looks generally like a storage unit with some desks shoved inside. • The CEO insists on business attire (slacks, dress shirt, dress shoes), even though the US office only has 5-7 people working in it, and have zero face-to-face contact with their clientele. • Showing up an hour late or leaving an hour early to deal with personal matters is strongly frowned upon. I was written up for working from 10-7 instead of 9-6. • CEO seems removed from day-to-day operations of the company. Focuses on new ventures and opportunities instead of first fixing the significant issues of their main product.

Pros

Good work environment, open communication, young vibe, collaborative teamwork, productive atmosphere yet fun coworkers, free snacks, health initiative trips and perks, group outings to restaurants and events keeps things fresh, open office layout with plenty of personal space

Cons

It's unclear what certain employee's responsibilities actually are, which can make it difficult to know where my responsibilities should end and someone else's should begin. Work is often requested all at once even if known about in advance, adding unnecessary stress on a project(s).
