Pros
Everyone is nice. Low expectations of hard work so your work/life balance is incredible.
Cons
Everyone is nice. No hard conversations are had. So the work never gets better, the people never get better, the agency doesn't grow, the pitches are lackluster and they then have to lean on their one tobacco account to show any real movement of a brand. They were the biggest name in Memphis for so long they didn't have to work to get business and that's not cutting it anymore. Now they don't know how to pitch or do really compelling work. Then they laid off most of the people that cared and wanted the agency to change for the better. Sad. Russ the CEO is a great guy, but his long-time partner and friend Gary, the CCO fancies himself a great creative and is the exact opposite; a better philosopher of the industry than practitioner. You would think he's a writer by trade because you never see him design or art direct anything, but no, he grew up an art director. That's telling. Could be sorted out again with ....guess what... a tough conversation. But, everyone's too nice.
