Pros

The pay was beyond anything I could have ever hoped for. It really did change my life being able to work from home and write with a lot of freedom. Time management was fairly easy and overall just an easygoing job that payed really well.

Cons

There was no communication with the editors and writers if they were falling behind. There was no material for Canadian writers either. I was dropped as a writer randomly one day after working with them for over a year. I thought I was doing a great job and honestly thought I might have some room to move up somewhere in the future. I was let go without any reasoning and never had any prior problems or anything that would lead me to believe I would lose my job.

Pros

Some great minds in the editorial staff and everyone is friendly, available, and focused on the actual subject matter of the coverage. I've learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

Although not a corporation, the corporate nature of Valnet, the owner, leads to rapidly shifting priorities sometimes. Thankfully the editorial side of things is not micromanaged like some sites with larger ownership groups.

Pros

Remote work is the only one

Cons

Used to be pretty good, but rates have been slashed by more than half but the expectations only go up. The editorial standards are also a little ridiculous. The editor doesn’t catch any major factual errors, but makes the more insignificant changes to give you a high edit score.
