I have been working at ATB Financial full-time

Pros

I have amazing work life balance and I know that I can make suggestions and they'll be heard and, if they make sense, implemented. There are a lot of opportunities to build my personal equity and we're continually encouraged to challenge ourselves. It is a company with heart and has a true respect for, and focus on, creating happiness for Albertans.

Cons

I can't think of any cons. There is a focus to be great, not perfect. Know that if you work here you should be driven, accountable and passionate.

Advice to Management

Continue to be transparent and vulnerable. I love that you are so accessible and share your vision. Continue to seek out, and provide, feedback.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at ATB Financial full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Innovative branding. Creating a promise to deliver banking like no other bank by truly listening. Approachable CEO...probably one of the best in the banking business.

    Cons

ATB has undergone tremendous change and growth. Working hard to deliver an exceptional client experience, they are forgetting to take care of their employees. Messaging has become very top down

    Advice to Management

When introducing a new measurement index that is heavily weighted, be sure the senior leaders can translate to their leaders prior to the beginning of the year and not in July.

I worked at ATB Financial as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

ATB truly is THE place to work! Here are some of my favorite parts of the summer:

-flexible work hours and locations (telecommuting)
-amazing culture! I never felt like 'just a summer student' while with ATB. They truly care about people and want to make your time as worthwhile as possible
-learning opportunities to explore other areas of the organization to help you see where you might fit best
-access to executives (not many summer students get to have lunch with the CEO!)
-the capstone competition! Even though it was challenging at times to balance every day tasks with the capstone, it was very rewarding to solve an actual business problem. It pushed each of us to get our of our comfort zones, to connect with people throughout ATB, to work as a team to develop a realistic solution, and to practice presenting/pitching in front of our executives. It was a summer experience that I don't think you could get anywhere else!
-the friendships! There were many opportunities to spend time with our fellow ATBers and we all developed some long-lasting relationships that go outside of work

    Cons

The only cons I can think of are that the pay isn't outstanding and that students aren't necessarily put into positions in their field of study.
