I have been working at Education Management Corporation full-time

    Pros

good pay allowed to go to school tuition free.

    Cons

slim chances to move up and they fire you without warning. they lie about what they know to keep you working longer.

    Advice to Management

Talk to the employees more and stop hiding things from them.

I have been working at Education Management Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The overtime, if you can convince yourself to stay more than 40 hours a week.

    Cons

Feeling guilty every day. Doing what you have to, to meet expectations, not what is right. This is a true test of morals and ethics. The hours suck. You will make hundreds of calls a day. The amount of calls made to each person, well it feels awfully close to harassment. Almost every "student" you speak with is not a good candidate for college, but you must convince them otherwise. Constant pressure to work on Saturday's along with always getting stuck on the phone way past the days end. In my brief period at this "school" I have witnessed immense turnover. If you do not meet the insane standards, I recommend seeking new employment, because you will be fired. Don't think you are an exception.

    Advice to Management

    What management? They fired mine.

I worked at Education Management Corporation part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you are an active student and need a little extra income while you do work then this is a great gig.

    Cons

EDMC is horribly run in regards to its administration and practices.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating people like they are just numbers.

    Pros

I got a paycheck every other week.

    Cons

One of the most depressing companies ever. Morale was horrible. The head of our department was a real head case. Everyone knew it, including upper management, but did nothing to hold her accountable. In the meantime, good people all over the country were being let go.

    Advice to Management

Cut back on the bloated salaries of upper management and direct that savings to teacher salaries and programs.

I worked at Education Management Corporation (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent building, restrooms and break areas.

    Cons

Militant environment, worst job experience I've ever had. Driven by numbers w/ no consideration that applicant has the tools necessary to complete an online education.

    Advice to Management

You just paid a hefty fine for your past......learn from it!

    Pros

Pre 2014 it was a great organization to be a part of. Great benefits and salaries.

    Cons

This company won't last much longer. They gave it a great effort with its restructure but they put the wrong people in place. The VP is in way over his head and doesn't have the skill level or professional experience to lead. I've witnessed numerous instances of sexist and narcissistic behavior that should make anyone think twice about being a part of this organization. Management is subpar because only the people who are "yes" men are accepted. I honestly wish I could say nicer things but this place is a disaster.

    Advice to Management

    Update your resume.

I worked at Education Management Corporation full-time

    Pros

Decent Pay, made several friends among my co-workers

    Cons

Terrible management, upper management isn't concerned about education ad has no experience running a school, middle management is ignorant and incompetent. Its a totally disappointing situation for a company that could be so much better than it is. Just look at all the lawsuits alleging fraud. With that much smoke, there has to be some fire, right?

    Advice to Management

Be truthful and honest rather than lying and hiding the truth, things will go much better for the company.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Please sell these sites to people who care about educating. You do not.

I worked at Education Management Corporation (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The only reason to work for this company would.be a desire to do what you can to help position students to never have to work for such a company. As an Instructor at on of the Art Institute campuses, I learned the least desirable methods of running an educational organization because they we all a part of the management style of this company.

    Cons

Almost too many to mention, but to summarize: Terrible management at both campus and corporate levels, lack of true concern for students, greed, dictatorial and inept managers with no clue as to how to lead in a professional capacity or organization. No concern for employees.

    Advice to Management

Get a clue. Perhaps consult your employees as to how to do so. There are/were years of education and experience at your disposal that could assist with how to properly run a company, yet you choose to hire outside consultants or to not even inquire about and/address your failings at all. Also, STOP being so greedy as to pay your workers, with the exception of admissions, below market while continually padding the pockets of upper management. If by chance you are able to remain in operation, turn your focus more toward actually EDUCATING and preparing students rather than merely ENROLLING them. Dedicate more attention to educators than to admissions, from office space allocated to salaries paid.
