I worked at EF English First full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Excellent compensation. There's also excellent support from local staff for help with visas, settling in, housing, healthcare and more.

    Cons

The workload is too high. Teachers very often teach more than 24 contact hours each week, which is exhausting and unfortunately makes teaching quality lessons to all students impossible.

    Advice to Management

Hire more teachers, both foreign and local, so that the teachers can have a more manageable workload and not be overworked. Invest more in training support staff (teaching assistants) so that they feel confident when working in the classroom.

I worked at EF English First

    Pros

They allowed me to work independently and come up with my own ideas for Life Clubs. Fellow employees were very friendly and worked together as a team.

    Cons

Had to spend downtime in the office when we didn't have any classes. Management wasn't always flexible about giving us the ability to change our schedule.

    Advice to Management

From what I have heard, the management structure has changed and improved since I left.

EF English First is an awesome company to work for in China. They gave me a lot of support in my initial visa and visa renewal, making it very straightforward and ensuring that I knew well in advance of any deadlines or things to sort out. I have been working at EF English First full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

I've been working at EF for almost 3 years now. The kids are awesome and so is my DOS! She's really great with the teachers and goes out of her way to support their needs. Not only is she super helpful at work, she also takes the time to help them during her weekends. When I first moved here she took the time to show me all around the city. I know she has a tough job because she has so many teachers to look after as...
