I worked at Dow Jones full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Wonderful non-management level coworkers. The office building is newly renovated with free coffee.

    Cons

Management is toxic, hierarchical, and petty. Low growth and even lower morale. In particular, the work atmosphere is designed to resemble a modern factory. The workers are pushed to author reports in which they have no say, and are subsequently penalized for not meeting fluid and subjective criteria. Management is particularly inept at listening and actively participates in making the distinction between the 'workers' and management real. Moreover, initiatives to address these issues on the part of management come through as patronizing and not acknowledging core structural issues. Pay increase in about three percent a year, and beyond moving higher in a strictly reified vertical chain of hierarchy, there is no room for growth.

I worked at Dow Jones full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Actually left the company more than 5 years ago but the earliest possible year in the drop down list is 2015, so indicated as that. Good work life balance. Have the option of working-from-home. Very fun-loving colleagues. Young team with people from different nationalities and language proficiency. A good stepping stone for fresh graduates as the company brand name is well-known.

    Cons

Salary was not competitive then. Pay increment was not good. Lack of career advancement as the hierarchy was flat. Felt that there were lack of training for staff upgrading. Wonder if the situation is still as such.

I worked at Dow Jones full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Work-life balance and flexibility guaranteed for those working on content research (work-from-home policy requires employees to come to office only 2 days a week; encouraged to work in other Dow Jones offices around the world; etc.) - Healthy office culture (no office politics - in the Singapore office at least) - Relatively young and friendly co-workers (many are in 20s and 30s) - Great-looking office with great pantry (no kidding!) - Opportunities to upgrade oneself professionally (in-house courses; funding for advanced degree; etc.) - Hires recent graduates as well as experienced workers from various educational and professional backgrounds - Higher management actively engages with employees

    Cons

    - Pay is not as competitive as other companies (but decent benefits, though) - Opportunities for promotion is quite limited
