    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Dow Jones full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Company Benefits: Health Care, On-site Gym, Gym Reimbursement, 401 K (Matching), Shuttle to Train Station, and Salary

    Cons

Career Growth is dependent on connections/luck; no available career development programs or assistance to mentor

    Advice to Management

Help the people who work hard, diligently instead of stifling them to stay in your department forever. It makes for an uncomfortable, awkward environment.

I worked at Dow Jones full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The people are great, the environment is fast and exciting, there are opportunities to grow. And the gym!

    Cons

The salary for an entry-level job, the corporate hierarchy and the fact that the building is shared with FOX News.

    Advice to Management

Listen, and pay attention, to those who really want to grow and have potential. Keep the structure as flat as possible (it doesn't count when you say you're flat but you really aren't).

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Dow Jones full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good hours, good people. My manager, personally was very helpful and easy to reach. The same cannot be said about all departments. - Free Snacks and fancy espresso machine - Decent benefits - Good hours (very role dependent) - Architecturally nice office

    Cons

    - Room for growth limited - Nepotism, everywhere. - Business cycles much shorter than elsewhere, in the two years that I've been here there have been 3 restructures - Senior management completely disconnected from workers - Lack of accountability and responsibility even though this is all that is spoken about with regards to "company culture" - Low pay compared to competitors - Owns the WSJ, the biggest... problem in the business is lack of consistent delivery due to outsourcing to the lowest paying bidder. Issue is dismissed.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your employees at the very least. Make an effort to be involved and listed to constructive feedback.

"This company is fun to work for if you're not a customer service underling. The dept is like high school."

I worked at Dow Jones full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Snack bar, free coffee, decent benefits and salary.

    Cons

The customer service dept was run by young people who know nothing. Favoritism at every corner.

    Advice to Management

Hire someone who knows what they're doing, not someone who came in through nepotism. I was laid off because the supervisor was young and didn't like me. The HR department is the same. The people are basically "adults" with high school student mindsets.

  7. "Great company, meager pay"

    StarStarStarStarStar
Current Employee - Customer Service Executive in New York, NY

I have been working at Dow Jones full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company offers great benefits: Healthcare (including Dental), discounts on things like gym memberships, Apple products, Verizon/AT&T, etc. In addition, they have a free snack bar which gives fresh fruit 3x every day.

    Cons

There are contradictions between what is said and what is done, in terms of how to move into different areas of the company.
