I have been working at Dollar General part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I work with a great team of people who are dedicated to the shared goal of helping customers find what they need.

    Cons

Not enough staff in peak hours when you want to help everyone. Wanting to help customers but feeling overwhelmed.

    Advice to Management

When the customer wants something we don't sell we should have a plan to get it for them. More staff is needed to keep up with the amount of customers.

I have been working at Dollar General full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Growth personal and professional, compensation is good, do your job well and have full autonomy. Barely see my DM.

    Cons

Ton of hours, you must force yourself to follow the schedule and not work over. Delegate and keep your sanity.

    Advice to Management

Give a little more payroll, it's too tight and stores presentation suffers. Spend more on upkeep of older stores.

I have been working at Dollar General full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

just 6 mins from my house. been there for 6 years worked from cashier upwards, customers are great most of the people i work with are great. great 401k, good health insurance.

    Cons

a lot of people that wish to work for us find the work hard, your talking about people in their 20's and 30's. so you don't get help with the truck, lead cashier won't do anything that is ask of her, this includes training new employees. manager can be rude at times, work with him for nearly three years so you just get over his rudeness. he has his favorites and i am not one them, thank god. Store manager will work which is a blessing, a lot of back biting between certain cashiers and managers. lazy assistant managers, i have had 6 at this store so far, they don't like to work just hide.

    Advice to Management

reward people who have been with company for more than a year with something. in my case i have never called in, been sick, always done my job, dollar general has great policies but there are always people who try to abuse this.
look after the people that come to work who don't call out every week.

    Pros

DG is trying to change the culture so lots of nice benefits like free snacks, jeans everyday, flexible start time, etc. Most people are nice and helpful.

    Cons
