I worked at DentalOne Partners full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Benefits include PTO, Medical, vision, paid Holidays, 401k, short term/long term disability. Slight CE given 1-2x per year 2-4 credits.

    Cons

There’s not enough support to match the “culture”, high standards, and expectations. They accept HMO, DHMO, and discount plans. They do not have a cleaning crew and you are responsible to clean, dust, vacuum, clean toilets on top of seeing your patients. You will be responsible to perio chart EVERY adult 18yr + EVERY visit, not once a year along with providing them a handout EVERY visit that explains your assessment. The paperwork is ridiculous as you are not digital or chart less. You are responsible to pull your charts for the next day and audit them along with sending/emailing a report to a regional manager. You are to print out your production at the end of day every day and count how many lasers, FL, cancer screenings, whiting products, etc., pretty much tally up what you did and also submit this to the regional manager. No assistant is ever available for you. And the dentists assistants will not blink an eye towards you to ever help you with anything much less help you do a 5 point perio assessment. They will hide, eat, play on their phones, and take excessive restroom breaks when they are not busy without any regard to you and the dentist will not ask them to help you either. Even though it is said someone is supposed to be available to help you perio chart, do not expect it. Your production is watched with a magnifying glass and you will have to answer to your numbers. You are also responsible to basically do an ortho consult and take pictures with an iPad and fill out an ortho consult paper but they will tell you to view it as evaluating their bite. And they watch this too and will hound you over it. You are expected to be a top notch producing hygienist, do front desk work, do ortho consults, and be a janitor all in one with out an assistant. The assistants won’t help you with your instruments either. You have to take your trash out as well. The office is always short staffed. The front desk is also overloaded with daily reports and high expectations. The stress level is unreal. You are expected to do so much with very little. And supplies are always running out. You are also responsible for your hygiene supplies order on top of everything else along with an inventory report. You will submit your order of the supplies needed and 9 out of 10 times your order will be cut in half. You need new instruments? Good luck. If your cavitron unit stops working they will not provide you a replacement in a timely manor. 401k is not matched. Medical insurance is expensive. Disability is not company paid, you pay per paycheck. You are to give a 60 day notice for time off or it will not get approved. Assistants and front desk are to give a 30 day notice. The bonus system for the office hard to reach. Your production takes a major hit with DHMO, HMO, and discount plans. The front desk does not monitor your schedule to limit these low production patients. If your schedule is 60-70% HMO/discount how can your production be high with a $1.50/$5 prophylaxis? This is where they want you add as much as you can like laser or adjunctive aids. When they review your numbers but they don’t review the percentage of HMO/discounts seen to match. Low base pay/low production percentage pay. And if you go accelerated and see 12+ patients with a designated hygiene assistant your production pay goes down. How does that make any sense? Do more and make less?

I worked at DentalOne Partners full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Nice coworkers and new equipment. Nice materials when you are allowed to order them.

    Cons

Mistakes with paychecks always in their favor. It's a revolving door with assistants. Also, management will breath down eveyone's neck about production. You work out of 3 chairs and need to check hygienists. Sometimes you get paid only $10/filling and $70 for a crown. They also have a TERRIBLE time getting new patients. Hard to sleep at night knowing quality cannot be with how they book their dentists and have new inexperienced assitantsthat leave about every other month I left before my contract was up after they couldnt get any new help for over 2 weeks to assist me.
