I have been working at Debenhams part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    1) There is a variation in the work you do in each shift,
    2) You are provided with an induction and training which are informative,
    3) You work as part of a team who, for the most part, are more than happy to provide help and assistance,
    4) You learn a lot across a wide period of time,
    5) The pay is decent for under 18s, currently you are paid £6.64 per hour which is £2.59 above the minimum wage,
    6) You learn a lot of transferable skills.

    Cons

    1) Long shifts: e.g if you work from 9:30am until 6:30pm you will have an hour and a half break spread across the day. Usually, this will be one half hour break and then an hour break. Essentially, in this example you would be on your feet for 8 hours,
    2) Unpaid breaks,
    3) As with any new job, there is a lot to grasp in a small amount of time. Although till training is provided, the till system at Debenhams can be confusing from time to time,
    4) Every day tasks become repetitive. If you work in the home department you will be responsible for putting delivery out, recovering shelves (putting things in the right place, moving items forward, ensuring things are merchandised correctly) and putting labels on sale items.
