50% discount, free tea during shift, ability to plan and participate in events in your community, as a leader there were lots of opportunities to make decisions independently

Terrible communication with head office- they left us on the hook for four months during Covid with little to no communication as to what the status of our jobs was and then suddenly turned around and said “sorry your store is closing!” Additionally, as a key holder I was only paid 50cents more than a tea guide which in my option was not fair compensation based on the amount of responsibility I had. Upper management seemed to have no clue what things were like at store level and what customers desired. Culture was almost toxically positive, any criticism or concern was shot down immediately and silenced

Expectations were not clear for us as tea guides Having to be tested on what we want our A.T and overall sales to be that day was dumb and I didn’t see the purpose behind it

- It is expected that you interact with customers as if you are getting paid commission but you only get paid hourly - Very corporate - If you need to make changes in availability, it must be done about 1 month in advance - Management did not have their priorities straight - All workers are to follow a pretty similar 'script' (for lack of better word) which gets to be rather repetitive. - On call shifts I have always had a passion for tea and enjoy sharing that love with the people around me. Having a job where I could help customers find the tea that is right for them seemed like the perfect job for me! Unfortunately I found myself up-selling products more than anything else.

-was told that hours were given by merit when I started working there, which ended up meaning that I only got one shift a week for first 2 months despite open availability -little to no communication between management and coworkers -almost impossible to move up in the company -began with a strong "be yourself" attitude and then quickly was introduced to a flow chart and got scolded when we weren't happy enough -"coaching" was always passive aggressive -it was normal for employees to leave work in tears due to constant negativity and being forced to fake our personalities to suit a part time minimum wage job -whenever problems came up with the company, an almost immediate response from management was telling us to quit because "we're all replaceable" -manager constantly cut her own hours -manager forced the assistant manager to do their job for them while they left early every day -extreme favouritism throughout company making other employees uncomfortable -it is JUST tea, calm down
