I worked at Crawford & Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Crawford is attempting to change in a shrinking market, so there is certainly opportunity. There are lots of good people around the organization who mean well.

    Cons

Crawford is a legacy industry and continues to behave in a cost-cutting will save us mentality. While there is lots of new senior leadership, there are still management teams that have been unchanged in years and years. Messages from the CEO/COO sound optimistic, but actions don't support the words.

I have been working at Crawford & Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A great stepping stone... it has the reputation for being "Crawford University" for this reason - you learn the ins and outs and then move on

Reasonable expectations for work hours per week (35-37.5)

    Cons

Culture - not a very engaged workforce (Management is too focused on targets and financial goals)

Departments are run too lean - they really push the mentality of doing more with less - that comes with a cost - attrition!

Benefits are below market - employees pay high premiums

Low salaries for the comparable market

    Advice to Management

Keep making strides to turn the culture - get a recognition program that is effective

Implement more process for promotion nomination - Managers are in their role because of their expertise or based on their length of service with the company but lack the essential skills to actual manage people and the admin task necessary for the role

I have been working at Crawford & Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Definitely trying to come out of the dark ages that is the bane of the insurance industry. Good technology and work flexibility.

    Cons

Poor internal communication on the national level.

    Advice to Management

Get out of your own way, create more diverse teams that have the strengths that you don't.

I have been working at Crawford & Company part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fantastic place to do a co-op in . I worked there for 4 months full time, now back at school working part time when I can. Everyone really works as a team to get things done, and it is a pleasure to interact with them

    Cons

Downsides were neglibable. I was a student co-op for 4 moths, and I really did enjoy my time there.

    Advice to Management

Keep going. You are awesome. Keep being supportive and keep growing.

I worked at Crawford & Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nothing positive to say other than you take home a paycheque.

    Cons

Poor or no supervision. Stressed work environment. They overwork you. There are no raises and you have to write your own work review. No training. They can get rid of you at whim by saying they are restructuring and there is no place for you. Then a few months down the road your job is posted on this site with a different title.

    Advice to Management

Communication needs to be greatly improved. Stop promoting yourselves and increasing your salary while all the front line people are working hard and making Crawford money.
