I have been working at Crate and Barrel full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Interview process was very good and the people who did the interviews were really good and upbeat. The District team is very supportive and care a lot about your learning and growth in the company. They also respect what your past work experience will to bring to Crate and Barrel. Love the current direction the company is planning to go in order to succeed company wise The staff are very friendly which is a huge bonus

    Cons

So far I have no complaints. Overall the experience so far has been really good and any challenges that have come up have been addressable

    Pros

    Great company, wonderful staff except...

    Cons

The company was too quick to promote and send from the U.S managers to train others. Person they sent down to calgary was HORRIBLE at dealing with staff and training others.Had no idea what he was doing and treated Calle, hard working staff badly.

I have been working at Crate and Barrel full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The team works incredibly hard to support the hundreds of different tasks that happens on a daily. The products are definitely great quality products when I first started, but lately I've noticed a lot more issues esp in the furniture sector of the business. There are great workers here and all hardworking. Compared to most retailers the previous CEO Neela has really pushed this company forward in investing in technology to build an infrastructure that can survive tough times.

    Cons

It is the middle management that has been there for 20-30+ years that refuse to really change and grow. The technology that HQ builds never works for the stores since the middle management have no clue in terms of how to execute these technologies and provide constructive feedback. Half the time they don't even know how to use zoom or google sheets. There are so many different opinions and lack of prioritization from the middle management that it makes everyone in the stores run around without proper direction. Much like every big company - there are politics, but this place has a larger group of middle management that doesn't support employees who have new ideas or want to make a change. There's no accountability held at the corporate level since everyone in the store level is running around fighting fires at each moment without even time to sit down and take a second break. The staff is overworked mainly due to the management that runs the place without real project management skills or any technical skills.

I worked at Crate and Barrel full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

free Nespresso coffee and large break room

    Cons

Where to start! Company culture is non existent and almost monotone. They've placed area managers who are clueless on how to drive business, but can spend days critiquing a visual display. There is little partnership with leaders and support to elevate your business. It ultimately turns toxic when someone turns on you and fabricates lies to get rid of you. Ultimately, the proof is in the numbers. NYC shows this with a constant turnstile of store managers coming through. Take a look at your incompetent Area manager, RVM, and RHRM.
