I worked at Costa Coffee part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team environment. Also a good place to work with customer focus. Management really cared about the store that I worked in.

    Cons

Understaffed at busy times. Sometimes felt like you couldn't give the best customer experience because there weren't enough staff on.

    Advice to Management

Just to ensure that it is always well staffed.

I have been working at Costa Coffee full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The parent company offers more respect, incentives, training, pay, bonuses. Great company of you work hard.
Opportunity to advance can be high

    Cons

Franchise companies maybe not so much.
Pay can still be kinda low, even lower with franchise
    Kinda strict rule set
    Costa check

    Advice to Management

    Mirror parent company ideas

    Pros

High standards, great training and you meet friends for life.

    Cons

It's pretty much impossible to deliver coffee at "Brand Standard". Baristas usually (From my experence) have to find ways to deliver coffee faster.

If you don't like pressure then perhaps it's not for you, although it's good pressure and if you mess up it's only a coffee and it can be done again.

    Advice to Management

Top management don't really care about lower employee when they are the ones running the show, this should be rectified. Pay more also, the margins Costa makes on it's products is crazy and you will hold employees for longer.

I worked at Costa Coffee part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Free drinks all day, discounts on food, generally hires friendly staff

    Cons

Targets set to managers force them to squeeze hours, meaning theres frequent gross understaffing, no time to be friendly to customers. Its more factory work than customer service
One minute late loses 15 mins pay, work over 5 minutes, see no increase in pay

    Advice to Management

Reward staff who manage to uphold good customer service despite terrible conditions

I worked at Costa Coffee part-time

    Pros

Good salary, great rewards through feel good points which gives you gift vouchers for certain stores, etc.

    Cons

It can be very busy and demanding and as in any customer service jobs, you'll always get rude customers.

I worked at Costa Coffee part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Usually quite a friendly atmosphere
    - Free food at the end of a shift
    - One free hot drink during the shift
    - The pay is pretty decent
    - Somewhat flexible hours

    Cons

    - Did not receive coffee making training until 5 months into the job
    - Management insists on following the "rules" to such a degree that it becomes nonsensical in certain situations i.e. being reprimanded for not providing someone with a fork for a Rice Krispie cake
    - If on the end shift, almost always expected to work overtime

I have been working at Costa Coffee part-time

    Pros

Free drinks and 50% of food on shift, 25% of any Whitbread owned company after 3 months of work, rota is generally planned for the next month so there's plenty of time to schedule around work, work never gets boring, most people are lovely to chat to, team is amazing and managers always make sure everyone is ok/happy, my manager was/is very thoughtful and makes sure to ask if work/school balance is ok

    Cons

Hard to call in sick, longs hours, on feet all day, sometimes people can be nasty, sometimes stressful

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!!
