Cons
Promotion and pay increase opportunities are slim.
- 5.0Apr 12, 2013Adjunct FacultyFormer Contractor, more than 5 yearsGreen Bay, WI
Pros
Adjuncts were valued and respected as equal partners in serving students. There were numerous opportunitiesitiesities to teach different courses at two CUW locations in Appleton and Green Bay. The Christian mission of the University was evident in the campus administrators and staff.
Cons
There were no full-time positions for instructors in the school locations outside Mequon. Even teaching a full-time load didn't afford the opportunity to be a full faculty member.

Pros
The hours were flexible and management is understanding of schoolwork and outside curricular projects and activities, knowing that being a student is a priority. Concordia University is a Christian school, which creates a warming environment in which to work, and other employees are great to be around.
Cons
Quite a few students wish there were more on-campus opportunities to work, although I never had any problem finding a job. The pay system is a little confusing as to when you get you will be getting a paycheck. Pay is minimal, although because it is an on-campus job, the convenience is well worth it (to some).

Pros
Working in the offices as a design marketing intern was really great! I was able to have a flexible schedule that allowed me to come in around my class and other work schedule.
Cons
There wasn't a lot of structure or real strict deadlines for projects, but that also provided the opportunity to take my time to learn specific design software and provide multiple variations to my manager.

Pros
It is in a beautiful location and for the most part, everyone is very welcoming, kind, and treat you like family. They have a beautiful mission and you are free to exercise your Christian faith there. Chapel is everyday during the school year which is a nice break during the day for a spiritual refill. The benefits are outstanding and there are quite a few perks associated with working at a university.
Cons
There is a disparity between administration and staff, as well as tension between non-exempt and exempt employees. It is exceedingly difficult to change how things are done and it is also difficult to speak plainly about work performance. The wage/salary is less because it is a private institution, but the benefits make up for it. The hardest thing is that the mission is so beautiful and you feel like you cannot live up to it because of opposition from people in upper management. There is also limited opportunities for advancement unless someone retires.

Pros
The company hosts chapel every morning for staff, faculty and students. Very faith based. They also have bible study weekly with a free lunch. Exercise programs and many opportunities to volunteer in the community. The quality of the people is great. Flat organizational structure so it is easy to send ideas up the ladder for guidance.
Cons
Everyone has three jobs so plan to work hard.
