I have been working at Coast Capital Savings full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Management is approachable and most of the team are great to work with. EPMO management gives us perks of team events, courses, lunch’s brought in for meetings . Management helps those that want to do the work. I’ve never had any issue approaching EPMO management from VP And directors and having candid conversations about how things are going and career pathing. For those considering Coast and EPMO as an employer, if you have a positive attitude and stay away from the negative you will do well and will enjoy working with this team

    Cons

I wish the constant whiners would leave. You make work an unpleasant place to be, not management. I’m tired of your constant complaining on surveys - promotions given to a particular race, a particular race has favoritism and things are swept under the rug, what race is this,? I see people from all races, genders and ages being promoted in our area., and given opportunities, maybe truly look at yourself and the work you do or don’t do, you’re likely not deserving of a promotion. The constant complaining of parking, give it a break, when did it ever become the employer‘s responsibility to coordinate parking or transportation for their employees? If availability of parking was that important to you in the job interview you should’ve asked. There is available parking in the area maybe just not in the building. If the whiners focused on the work and reduced the amount of chitchat and backstabbing that they do to their fellow employees and management our department and work environment would be better. It’s not EPMO management or coast management that makes the department a toxic environment it’s the toxic employees with in the environment that make it so.

I worked at Coast Capital Savings full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Competitive Salary within the financial services industry

    Cons

I worked at Coast Capital for 2 years in total, I worked full time and part time. Management is extremely unprofessional, and nosy. I would ask for a half day off with a months notice, and they would decline my request. Then both my managers would leave early or not even show up to work on the day I had requested off. I had to go to a doctors appointment, and was asked in front of the whole team why I had to go to the doctors, what my blood test was for, and why I had to go to an appointment so last minute. Coast Capital management made it very clear that they did not care about my privacy at all, and did not care about putting me in an uncomfortable position in front of the whole branch team. Managers were firing individuals with no cause, which put everyone in the branch on edge. The employee culture was consistently going down steadily, and nothing was being done to change it whatsoever. If you expressed you wanted a change in position/department you would not be given opportunities, YET punished for wanting to leave your current role. I ended up resigning due to this toxic work environment, and my manager then proceeded to try and argue with me via email about why I was leaving. I did not reply to these emails, as I wanted to leave on a "good note". The HR department has no confidentiality, and people being terminated or let go was being spread throughout the company. Everyone knew when an individual was being "transferred" out of the company, or when someone was written up. It needs to be understood that people's privacy should be held to the utmost importance. Coast Capital does not take this seriously at all, and needs to be held accountable for the emotional turmoil they have pressed upon their current and past employees.

It’s home 🏠 All I hear is positive feedback from other people who have been there for many years and that is just so RARE

    Cons

Honestly there isn’t anyrhing I can think of... oh... we run out of hot chocolate so fast?! Lol

Good life work balance with CCS. Friendly coworkers and management. The possibilities to grow are everywhere and you are encouraged by senior management to do so. Fantastic benefits. Always growing as a company and employer. Takes advice/ criticism from staff and proactively works with all of us to resolve any issues creating a great work environment

    Cons

Sometimes there are to many unnecessary barriers in the way to effectively and efficiently complete tasks, management and EXCO have acknowledged this and have been working toward steps to improve some of our dated procedures.

I worked at Coast Capital Savings full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I hadn't worked for a credit union before and I was surprised how slow the work pace is and how little gets done. While my coworkers were nice poeppl they complained a lot about petty thubngs. This made is difficult to get things done. The pay was very good compared to other places I worked in the banking industry and the work life balance was great. If you like a relaxed work environment, with nice colleagues but are ok with features and products behind the times, this might be the place for you

    Cons

not easy to get things done. behind the industry in many areas, including digital products, automation, IT and systems

Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback. I can't hide the fact that it kills me the pace wasn't fast enough for you. It's great to have a diversity of approaches and its too bad we weren't able to find a blend in work and life to meet your needs. Your energy and enthusiasm is exactly what we love to harness to help create inspired and purpose-driven relationships with colleagues and members. I hope you were able to relay the feedback to your leader and make the most of your time at Coast by getting involved in as many side projects and experiences as possible. Our digital journey is progressing nicely and increasingly we'll be coming to play with enhanced systems and experiences. Best of luck in all you do and please consider Coast for future opportunities.
