Great place to work if you have the right personality

      Pros

I have worked in both the branches and back office during my years with Coast. Great Benefits, lots of vacation time, awesome coworkers and CEO. If you have a chipper personality and don't mind very aggressive sales targets you will do well. If you are lucky enough to get a posting in the back office, the Help Headquarters office is an amazing physical work environment.

      Cons

Low pay for non-management, its pretty embarrassing working for a financial institution but not making enough to qualify for a mortgage with them. It is a very top heavy organization which can be frustrating when they talk about the bottom line and how it is affecting your bonus/pay all the time, yet there are so many highly paid managers that are unnecessary.

We love to hear that you have awesome colleagues and if by chipper you mean having a positive attitude, that’s fantastic. Employees with a strong ability to adapt to a changing environment and a love for working within a team flourish at Coast Capital. Cheers for your honesty about your frustrations within the work environment. As you know balancing, whether on one foot or for a whole organization of people, is a tricky thing. All that glitters is not gold

      Pros

Great staff that care and want to make a difference .

      Cons

Too top heavy , too many Chiefs that add no value , too many VPs and Directors that are overhead while the rest of the organization struggles to meet timelines and objectives on projects . It's a a real mess and the CEO continues to do nothing to help, constant turnover at every level and the recent reviews look like they've been crafted by management or HR to try and boost employee engagement. No surprise here ,

Sorry to hear you've been feeling this way. It's important to us that our employees have an opportunity to share their perspective in-person, over survey or online, like this review on Glassdoor as it provides us with insight into important areas of engagement and provides a chance to hopefully share information to address your concerns. Turnover of our staff is something that we closely monitor and care about. Over the past year we have seen employee movement as we try to build out our teams appropriately in preparation for all the work in front of us to deliver on our growth and strategy. The IT team is a focal point in our journey and we know the pressures that accompany that spotlight. We'd love to understand more about your concern and ways we can explore it. If there are any members of the management or HR team you can reach out to, we'd be happy to sit, chat further and figure out how we can help. We thank you for your perseverance and hard work and we appreciate your review.

A company slowly heading towardd irrelevance

      Pros

Slow paced environment with average and below average performers. Great for people who are used to working in public sector or unionized environments.

      Cons

Coast Capital Savings is very top heavy with what seems like endless amount of middle management. It takes 12-16 team leads, managers, senior managers, directors before a decision is made. Time lines are missed and projects fail on a regular basis.

      Talent Acquisition Manager

I am sorry to hear you've been having this experience. Hopefully you've been able to engage with your leader in some open dialogue on desiring a faster pace of work and potential solutions to more streamlined decision making. If not, maybe this is something you can consider in order to provide your team an opportunity to step up to your needs and hear your great ideas. We are open to improvement and evolving our way of working. After the member vote and getting the yes from our members on the "grow ahead," there is a lot to prepare, plan and execute. We believe our team is up for the challenge but that being said, we're always keeping an eye out for amazing talent to join us and help in achieving our goals. Nobody is perfect, but as a team, we try to embrace our differences in experience, strength and areas of development in order to live into our purpose, enjoy work and accomplish our shared goals. We hope this helps and that you enjoy brighter days here at Coast.
