    I have been working at Co-op part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Everybody gets paid the living wage or above regardless of age and they are reasonably accommodating when compared to other employers.

    Cons

    Manager is disorganised and shifts can be busy. Often understaffed but that’s not different to other jobs in food retail.

    I have been working at Co-op part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Staff here are really friendly and welcoming and are always willing to lend a hand if needed. Within just a few months of working here I was gradually given new responsibilities and introduced to new jobs which helped keep me occupied once I became faster at getting jobs done. Time goes really quickly due to it being busy and always having something to do. The pay is also really good for part-time work Understanding management who are happy to adjust your availability to suit your current education timetable.

    Cons

    There is a problem with shoplifters in the area and there isn't a security guard on the door, and no possibility of ever having one. Sometimes its so busy that it is impossible to finish all your jobs before your shift ends, and you'll need to stay late. I work nights so this is irritating, but overall its not so bad.

This investment will go towards the installation of the latest remote monitored CCTV; communication headset devices rolled-out to all front-line colleagues and the targeted deployment of SmartWater Fog Cannons.

    I worked at Co-op full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Craigshill store : Motivated, friendly employees. Team Leaders muck in as much as anyone else. Excellent customer dynamic.

    Cons

    Despite 8 hour contract, hours each week were in excess of 24+. Poor engagement from senior management and a feeling that there is a lack of support for employees over customers. No security provided and management favour the customer, despite risks to the wellbeing of staff and other customers.

    Lower pay than other supermarkets Staffing hours low for level of work expected - often feels under staffed Nothing extra on bank holidays Hours changing constantly, not easy to plan life around this No reward to colleagues when targets are constantly met and achieved

    I have been working at Co-op full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Ethical company focusing on changing the way business is conducted. Number of holidays provided is high (34+), 10% off products in store as well as 20% during payday weekend. Paid breaks whilst on shift.

    Cons

    It is common to work two people on a shift at one time, this can result in a lot of fast-paced hard work especially when conducting stock, working on checkouts, sorting out waste and ensuring the shop is clean. Important to note that this often occurs after 18:00, so it is not too difficult if there is not a lot to do.

    -good pay -friendly staff -always busy so not standing around doing anything -flexible for students -plenty of chance for overtime

    Cons

    -sometimes short staffed at the busiest periods
