RecommendsNeutral OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI have been working at City of Winnipeg part-time for more than 10 years
Pros
Pretty friendly place to work. Most of the people will help you get started if you are new. And once you know the job the work isnt hard. The foremen and great overall. The work environment isnt very stressfull. They provide safety gear.
Cons
It can be really hard to advance. There isnt a lot of future at the place either with a lot of jobs going to contractors. You will always be judged by the public as a shovel leaner even if you are a hard worker.

Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookDisapproves of CEOI worked at City of Winnipeg full-time for more than 8 years
Pros
Interesting projects that benefit the community, guaranteed pension, good health benefits, lots of job security, a lot of upcoming retirements so room for advancement, lots of internal training but little interest in spending money to send staff for external training or conferences
Cons
Frustrating work environment, extremely risk adverse, endless meetings, terrible communication, silos, lack of direction, constant political posturing and interference by councillors who only care about what happens in their ward but not the rest of the city, short staffed, poor employee performance rarely addressed

Great wage, benefits, and pension for a part time job! Fun work environment. Staff pick their own hours based on seniority, so it's easy to manage with school schedules.
Cons
Union (CUPE) is kind of useless. Inconsistent management, high staff turnover.f
