    Adequate benefits compared to other large organizations. Good working conditions. Great dedicated people to work with.

    Cons

    Understaffed. Stressful environment. HR pushes for hiring based on 'datasheet' method of resumes matching. No consideration of cultural fit or attitudes.

    I have been working at City of Winnipeg part-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    The benefits are good. The atmosphere is mainly casual and friendly. There are all sorts of courses for enrichment. The job is stable.

    Cons

    Some of the employees have the attitude that no effort is required because they will get their pay no matter what. With present cutbacks there appears to be little room for advancement. The literacy skills of some employees is sub-par.

    HR and budget constraints make it difficult to manage varying workloads. City processes are never simple. Change is slow. Succession planning is non-existent.
